Rocky Ross

Rocky Ross spent her formative years in Los Angeles. After college at UC Santa Cruz, she went on to host a Latin Jazz show on KABC radio, worked in broadcast news and developed content for national documentaries. At KQED-TV (PBS) Rocky had the good fortune to be mentored by renowned journalist Bill Moyers. In her thirties, Rocky moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to teach English by day and dance samba ‘til dawn. She speaks Portuguese fluently.

After raising her two sons, Rocky escaped LA for California’s central coast, which she has called home since 2016. In San Luis Obispo, she fell in love with improv, took tons of improv training and has been performing with Central Coast Comedy Theater ever since.

In 2017, Rocky started hosting The Reboot • Storytelling ReImagined, a live show under the stars that features curated local tellers, special guests and first-timers sharing true personal stories around the theme plus a dash of sketch, spoken word and audience participation. Each run of The Reboot is a unique adventure in “story gold” for those who delight in all things well told. When not teaching storytelling, telling stories herself or doing improv, Rocky makes a living as researcher and all-purpose wordsmith for hire.
