Synopsis

During a brutally cold winter, Sarah was a single mother with an 11-year old son. But she had no work, no income, and just keeping the heat and the electric bills paid was becoming a crisis. She shared an extremely modest Thanksgiving dinner of cheap Chinese takeout with her son from quarters they’d found around the apartment. By the time Christmas rolled around, things were so bleak, Sarah was afraid they’d end up homeless. Then a present arrived. A box filled with money. It was a fellow musician she’d known years before who said, “Every year, I send someone who I think could use it the tips that I made from playing piano in bars that year.”
