Synopsis

Javier grows up in Puerto Rico on an American consulate base, frustrated by teachers who don’t understand how bilingual and bicultural he is. As he grows up and spends his graduate school years in Michigan, he feels both trapped between American and Latino culture, and constantly stereotyped by other gay men. His secret, however, is that he has some cultural fetishization of his own: Javier has always wanted to have a fling with a bona-fide cowboy…a fantasy he gets to put into action when he’s sent to an academic conference in Austin, Texas.
