The beginning of the show really spoke to me. It is wrong that we should be made to feel that we can’t speak, or even tell our own stories, because people lash out as they do these days. People now thrive on controversy, anger, and false heroism in calling someone out on something that offends someone or touches a sensitive topic people don’t want to hear. It’s America, we are given the freedom of speech. It’s just too bad that, while controversies and issues are created and fueled like a match to gasoline, the concept of respect and an open mind slip so often these days. I adore this show, and all those who have been brave enough to share some of the most difficult stories in Podcasts past. Don’t let the way society is changing bring you down. All we can do is rise above the negativity that is so easily sparked today. Anyway– Great show, keep it up!
Ugh, people are such babies. Please, never censor your podcast. I appreciate the honesty and lack of censorship, that’s what makes this show so great.
For those with ‘sensitive ears’, may I suggest that you grow a pair.
Wow Julia is amazing to tell that story on stage. I have been through something very familiar with jp. I thought the same things but never did it only because I knew what it would do to my ex’s. She didn’t deserve that. But life it hard for everyone. Mine much worse then most. Thank you for telling and sharing your story Julia. Hope all is well.
Kevin Phillips is a comic genius. Love this story.
I loved Kevin’s story. I also knew from a early age that I was wired differently to the kids around me, in regards to sexual opinions and behaviour. I would like to throw out an idea, could The Risk podcast release a Risk uncut special with the 70% of stories that are edited out, please?
I second MJ’s comment about the Special Edition release of unheard stories. I also agree that this show is and should continue to be an outlet for people to express themselves. The raw and unpredictable journey many of these storytellers take us on is precisely why I fell in love with this show in the first place AND why I keep coming back.
Woooohoo! Shout out to Kansas’s shitty school curriculum!
Kevin,
Thank you for your comments at the beginning of the show. The whole “social justice warrior” movement is doing more hurt than harm at this point if people are too afraid to speak their mind for fear of attack.
I am so glad to have discovered this “secret”. I find myself anxious to get home and start dinner while being entertained and sometimes introspective while I make dinner.
Oh my god, Kevin Phillips’ story made me laugh so hard. I was at work giggling up a storm and had to tell everyone around that I spilled coffee, because I couldn’t say “Oh just listening to someone talk about how they lost half a dildo up their ass”.. Amazingly funny, and i’m sure for a lot of people relate able.
