Luis Garcia

Born and raised in Miami, FL, Luis was an artist and a drummer for many local bands until he went to prison for trafficking LSD in 2007. There, he got his shit together (got clean) and became a mentor, teacher, and writer in prison. Upon his release in 2017, he immediately released a collection of short stories, titled Missing, published by Jitney Books, and slowly rebuilt his life. Today he’s married and has a young daughter, living in the Florida Keys, working nothing but side gigs: Caribbean exporter, commercial fisherman, and charter boat captain running eco/historic tours of Biscayne Bay, the Upper Keys, and guided fishing and lobstering. He usually tells historic stories on these tours and occasionally shows up to tell stories at local venues willing enough to put up with his degenerate stories. He continues to fish when he’s not fishing.
