Abel Athi Kumar

Abel Athi Kumar is a Malaysian writer, storyteller and artivist based in Bangkok. After a legal career that took him from courtrooms at home, through regional policy work, to Geneva, he spent years inside refugee protection systems before realising the truest things he knew arrived as stories, not submissions. He writes Catalogue of Abel, essays on memory, belonging and the small moments where systems meet people. He has performed with Bangkok Stories, curated exhibitions, and helped displaced artists find their way onto gallery walls and into university classrooms. He also works in film, in front of and behind the camera.
