Your Music on RISK!

Musicians! Want us to put some of your music on the podcast? We’re looking for songs and instrumental music of all sorts, to feature, to score our radio-style stories with, and to play under Kevin (or other hosts) introducing stories and such. All you need to do is:

  1. Copy the agreement text below into an email and swap out all the blue bits with your information.
  2. Send it to contactus@risk-show.com with Music Licensing Agreement for RISK! Podcast – followed by your artist name in the subject line.

We’ll let you know once we’ve got it, along with any followup questions. Meanwhile, it’d be really helpful if you could whitelist your music for us, which is outlined further down this page.

Hi, RISK!

I am granting RISK! (aka KGA Holdings, LLC) permission to use my music under the following terms:

• Track Title(s): INSERT TITLES OF ALL TRACKS WE MAY USE, or “Any tracks from ALBUM TITLE(S)”, or “Any tracks from my entire catalog” 
• Artist/Composer: INSERT YOUR NAME OR ARTIST/BAND NAME 
• Usage: Intro/outro, background, or in-episode use as needed across the RISK! podcast, including websites, streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple, etc.), and YouTube, plus any other podcast platforms or social media sites where you may post promotional clips or trailers for the show.
• Editing: You may edit, loop, fade, or otherwise adjusted as needed to fit the timing, flow, and storytelling of the episode, while respecting the integrity of the work.
• License Type: Non-exclusive (I keep my rights!), royalty-free, worldwide.
• Duration: Perpetual for any episodes or promos produced under this agreement. (Essentially: you won’t have to delete or edit old episodes, even if I stop letting you use my music in the future.)
• Credit: For featured tracks, you’ll credit me in the audio and on the website. For background use, you can list me on the website. 
• Ownership & Rights: By sending this, I confirm that I am the sole owner or authorized representative of this music and have the right to grant these permissions. I retain 100% ownership of my work.
• Revocation: With written notice, I may revoke permission for use of this music in the future. However, any episodes or social media content already published will remain as is.

Whitelisting Your Music

Whitelisting ensures that our episodes don’t get taken down because your music is in it.  And that when we tag you in a clip on social media, the music actually plays! (If you ever see a clip of ours muted that features your music, let us know and we can help you “release” the claim through your distributor.)

Not using a distributor? If you aren’t using a service like DistroKid or TuneCore (for example, if you only use Bandcamp or SoundCloud), you don’t need to do anything! Your music won’t be subject to automated claims.

Using a distributor? If your music is registered with a distributor to get onto places like Spotify and Apple Music, please whitelist (allowlist) our show/channel. This prevents automated copyright bots from flagging or muting our episodes and social media clips simply because they feature your music.

  • How to whitelist us:

  • DistroKid: Log in and go to the “YouTube Money” section. Click on “Whitelist” and paste our YouTube Channel URL. For Instagram/Facebook, check your “Social Media Whitelist” settings.

  • TuneCore: Log in to your YouTube Administration dashboard and add our URL to the “Distributor Allowlist” or “Exclusions” section.

  • CD Baby: Go to Tools & Promotion > Social Video Monetization. You may need to contact their support team to manually whitelist our Instagram/YouTube if the option isn’t in your dashboard.

  • Meta (Instagram & Facebook): Ensure your Meta Rights Manager settings allow the @riskshow handle to use your music to avoid muted clips.
