Here’s a picture of the newly engaged couple and an email response from Christy.

Hi Kevin, I wanted to thank you for helping Pat with the engagement, I said YES!!  I thought it was awesome and I was completely shocked!  We are fans of your show, so when he put it on the speakers Saturday morning while in our pjs and making breakfast as we usually do, I thought nothing of it.   Then when you said his name and then mine, I was confused at first, but quickly realized what was going on.  A random Saturday morning at home, it was perfect.  Thanks again for helping make this engagement so special, I am a lucky gal

Since August of 2009, RISK! has been operating on a budget of… well, almost nothing.

RISK! is a labor of love. We have a large team of people who each spend a tremendous amount of time making the RISK! podcast every week.

In addition to making the podcast, the RISK! team runs weekly free open story slams, produces 2-4 monthly live shows around the USA, runs a storytelling school, and does everything it can to keep a This American Life-style show running without a This American Life-style budget of any kind. We don’t have enough income to cover our payroll costs, let alone our additional costs for website maintenance, bandwidth for the podcast, publicity and marketing, touring, class space rental, and on and on and on. So now, we’re doing a public radio-style fundraiser here on IndieGoGo.com to keep RISK! running.

Until now, we’ve been getting by on favors, miracles, volunteers, a small amount of advertising income and one large donation from one of our biggest fans, but the till is almost empty, and the last thing we want to do is close shop.

With your financial support, we can improve our recording equipment to give you a better-sounding show for a more pleasurable listening experience. We can put more effort into getting out on the road and bringing a live RISK! show to your hometown. We can stop worrying about how to pay our bills and get back to doing all we can to constantly improve our fans’ favorite show.

There comes a point in everyone’s life when the inevitable question presents itself:  “Do I want to go to Disneyland and be around tons of strange people dressed up as cartoon characters?  Or do I want to visit The Holy Land Experience religious theme park and be around tons of strange people dressed up as characters from the bible?”

Melanie Hamlett, in pursuit of the answer, finally reached a conclusion: Jesus is super sexy, and she wants his bod, bad.  Darling listener, if you have ever been overcome by the desire to fuck a pretend Jesus in the back of your car in a parking lot, then you will love Ms. Hamlett’s story “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” on our recent episode Try.  It is the story of one woman’s pseudo-love affair with a hot imitation Jesus.
